“(Two of our employees) are a true success story,
and a testimony to (our wellness program).
Together, they have recently lost 80 lbs!
They were
inspired to make a positive change
after attending the
BWell Cardiovascular Assessment
at Head Office in March. When they each had
their BMI scales measured, they confirmed that
they needed to take action and lose weight. Asone of them noted, “We already knew we had to
do something, but it helped that this message came
from
a non-medical source.” (They) decided to
make a change and reduce their risk for heart
disease by losing weight. Together
they joined
a local weight loss program in early April. Their
focus is on healthy eating, based on Canada’s Food
Guide, including balanced amounts of fruit and
vegetables, proteins and starches. As (one of them) laments, “No more junk food!”
The couple’s results have been extremely positive,
and they both report feeling much healthier, and
more energetic. They also include active exercise
as part of their weight loss program. As (one of
the two) notes, “If we didn’t do something, we were
both going to have heart attacks.” (They) have
worked hard at improving their health. They look
forward to participating in next year’s BWell Program.”

“This was a great kick-start to healthy eating for
me. My main problem is not making time for
myself, and taking care of myself. This class has
reminded me that my health is important and that
I have to bring it back under control by healthy
eating and exercise. These classes provided
motivation as well. I hope we can continue
meeting together and discussing our health and
food intake. It provides a positive attitude towards
