“I’ve been searching for quick, easy ways
to up my veggie count. Fruits are portable
and naturally occur in convenient serving
sizes so they’re easy bonus points. But my
fridge always seems to contain neglected
broccoli or wilted romaine.
I’ve turned to
bags of frozen vegetables since they’re
available in a tasty array of combinations.
I sauté them in a little olive oil and herbs,
often while I’m cooking breakfast, then pack
them up as a healthy foundation for my lunch. I’m still not always eating ‘8’ servings
but I’m getting close!”

“My team is great. Each member tries to
convince each other that they just had the
healthiest meal ever. They take pictures of
their plates and challenge each other…We
also suggest healthy restaurant ideas to the
members who work at night e.g. even at
midnight, they have salad at McDonald’s or
veggie soup at Tim Horton’s…We even have
fun by asking how many points a certain
dessert is.” (Challenge Participant)

“I have a thyroid condition so losing weight
or just not feeling tired all the time was very
difficult, even with medication – I was always
too tired to move but knew that if I did,
I would feel better – this challenge was the
best thing that happened to me – as I said
before, it was my kick in the pants that
I really needed.” (Challenge Participant)

“I find the yearly assessments a great way
to monitor how healthy I am – I do not go
to the doctor regularly for the glucose and
cholesterol test – and the aerobic test keeps
me on my toes.” (Healthy You Participant) |
